Foo Fighters will have 'silly' songs on next album

Dave Grohl has told NME magazine the Foo Fighters' next album will have "silly" songs on it.

Dave Grohl has told NME magazine subscription holders he's been urged to write "silly" songs for the next Foo Fighters album.

The lead singer, who's currently working on a follow-up to Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace, said bassist Nate Mendel wants more fun songs on the offering.

Grohl told NME magazine: "At one point Nate sent me an email, and said, 'I really like it when you write songs that are silly and mean nothing, too. You don't have to try and write 'Imagine' every time you sit down with a pen and paper.

"When we were demoing we came up with all this heavy s**t, so I said in an interview 'this is going to be our heaviest record yet'."

The Grammy Award-winning band first released a single 15 years ago, in 1995, and since then they've taken over the music world with their rock-pop music.
