Bryan Ferry 'worshipped by a tribe in the Congo'

NME magazine subscription holders can read how Bryan Ferry is apparently worshipped by a tribe in Congo.

Bryan Ferry has told NME magazine subscription holders that he is worshipped by a tribe in the Congo who think he travels in an "invisible plane" to see them every night.

"I was thinking of going to the Congo… they've found this tribe that were worshiping me, it's absolutely true," Ferry told Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding, who was interviewing him for NME magazine. "I thought this was natural [laughs]. They said 'He comes here in his invisible aeroplane'.

He added: "I didn't want anyone to know about that plane! [laughs]. I guess it's an offshoot of that thing in the Congo where they dress up very cool, there's a whole mod culture."

The founder of Roxy Music was talking to Fielding about art, and, in particular the comedian's new exhibition Bryan Ferry vs The JellyFox, which is on at London Soho's Gallery Maison Bertaux.

"I saw a great one of [Noel's paintings] of me up a tree in a white tuxedo," said Ferry talking about Fielding's talent. "It was really cool!"
