Today’s the day when parliament come together to pass the law on whether Same Sex marriages should be allowed. This would provide gay couples with the option to have either a civil or religious ceremony to affirm their love.
It will also allow couples who have already had a civil ceremony to convert their relationship into an official marriage.
We’re sure those of you with an Attitude magazine subscription will be eager to hear the result, which will go to a final vote this evening. It is thought that many Conservative MPs will vote against the bill, though the bill is expected (fingers crossed) to pass as many Labour and Liberal Democrat MPs are expected to vote in its favour.
Culture secretary Maria Miller addressed the House of Commons, saying: "What marriage offers us all is a lifelong partner to share our journey; a loving stable relationship to strengthen us and a mutual support throughout our lives. I believe this is something that should be embraced by more couples. The depth of feeling, love and commitment is no different between same sex couples than opposite sex couples."
