Those who have TLS magazine subscriptions will already know this, but the winner of the Man Booker Prize for Fiction is announced today.
The Man Booker Prize aims to find the best book of the year, making it the most prestigious literary award. Not only can it provide a huge helping hand to an author’s career, but it can also give a well-needed boost for independent publishers if one of their books wins the prize.
The 2011 shortlist is made up by AD Miller’s Snowdrops, Patrick Dewitt’s The Sisters Brothers, Jamrach’s Menagerie by Carol Birch, Stephen Kelman’s Pigeon English, Half Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan and current favourite to win, Julian Barnes with The Sense of an Ending.
The winner of the Man Booker Prize will be announced today at the London Guildhall and the lucky person will receive £50,000 prize money.
