Cosmopolitan magazine subscription holders can read how JK Rowling, the mastermind behind the Harry Potter film franchise, has been named the most influential female in the UK.
Fighting off competition from Victoria Beckham and the Queen, the writer came top of the list from the National Magazine Company, which owns Cosmopolitan magazine.
The company said she won the accolade for her writing skills, tenacity to succeed and her philanthropic tendencies.
Posh Spice ranked third in the poll, followed by Her Majesty. Other women in the top ten included popstar and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole and supermodel Kate Moss.
Arnaud de Puyfontaine, chief executive of the National Magazine Company, said: "The UK is home to an incredible amount of inspirational women and we are lucky enough to have worked with a significant number of them through our various publications over the years."
Next month, the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits screens in the UK.
