Lisa Snowdon thinks size 0 is unhealthy

Capital FM DJ and former model Lisa Snowdon talks to Star magazine about the "unhealthy" size 0 models.

...and so do we, quite frankly! As a model as well as TV presenter and radio DJ, Lisa Snowdon has spent a lot of time around people who obsess over their looks – to the point where they starve themselves in order to slim down.

Speaking to Star magazine in this week’s issue, she discusses people who are a size 0. “I think it’s unrealistic and unhealthy,” she says. “But it’s great that some designers have championed how we should be focusing on health and not skin and bones.”

Of her own experience as a model, she says: “Well, I was never part of the skinny look, I had boobs for a start! I was told to lose weight, yes, but I didn’t want to. I had a head on my shoulders and I got out. Then I came home and ended up getting the Special K advert which was brilliant.”

She adds: “The only time I felt too slim was when I did Strictly Come Dancing in 2008. It was doing so many hours of training with Brendan Cole, there wasn’t an ounce of fat on me. But that was exercise.”

At a size 8-10, Snowdon is now comfortable in her own skin, though she does admit that she can sometimes fluctuate to a size 12. It’s good to know that even models have days like that too!
