Time magazine reveals Person of the Year

Time magazine subscription holders can find out who the publication has chosen for its Person of the Year award.

If you've got a Time magazine subscription, you can find out who the publication has named its Person of the Year.

Ignoring readers pushing for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to win the title, Time magazine instead chose Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg to win the accolade.

The 26-year-old is the second youngest person to ever win the coveted title.

Managing editor at Time magazine Richard Stengel said the actions of Zuckerberg's social networking creation are "transforming the way we live our lives every day".

He added he had awarded Zuckerberg with the title: "For connecting more than half-a-billion people and mapping the social relations among them (something that has never been done before) [and] for creating a new system of exchanging information that has become both indispensable and sometimes a little scary."

This year, a film was released detailing the trials and tribulations of Facebook.

Called The Social Network, and starring Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg, the film has been nominated for a number of Golden Globes next year.
