How to lose a stone in six weeks

Woman's Own magazine reckons it can help readers lose a stone in six weeks.

Summer is officially here and Brits will be keen to get to the beach, park and other outdoor areas to soak up the sun.

However, if you're a little shy about getting the bikini out, Woman's Own magazine believes it has the answer.

Those planning an August holiday have just enough time to follow its fat-shredding diet, which promises to help shed up to a stone in just six weeks.

Actress Gaynor Faye used the Monica Grenfell-developed plan, which was created around the renowned Scarsdale Medical Diet that was popular in the 1960s.

It is essentially a high-protein, low-calorie arrangement designed to help users lose weight while still being able to enjoy tasty grub.

"You have a slice of protein bread with each meal, you can eat cheese if you want and even have a glass of dry wine each night," Ms Grenfell told the publication.

The magazine provides a starter diet, which should be eaten for a week, before adding "more elaborate lunch and dinner menus" for the remaining five weeks.

Gaynor Faye has appeared in numerous TV shows, including Casualty, Fat Friends and Between the Sheets.
