Guns N' Roses 'can't overplay'

People with an NME magazine subscription can find out exactly why Guns N' Roses will not be allowed to play longer than their scheduled slot at upcoming festivals.

NME magazine subscription holders can find out why Guns N' Roses won't be allowed to play for longer than their scheduled timeslot at this year's Leeds and Reading music festivals.

Festival boss Melvin Benn told NME magazine that the band won't be able to play late this year, which is what they did in 2002.

Eight years ago, Axl Rose's band went on stage after 23:00 BST in Leeds, which was an hour later than their allotted start time.

The noise curfew in place cannot be broken this year, according to Mr Benn.

"It's just not an option," he said. "I mean, it is certainly an option for them to go on late, but that for me is just about disrespecting their fans. There isn't an option for them to carry on late, though."

He added: "The truth is that I can't allow the performance to go on beyond that – it's just that simple."

At this weekend's festivals, Arcade Fire and Blink 182 are also headlining.
