Athletics enthusiasts who have a Runner's World magazine subscription can read about the increasing popularity of marathons.
Tom Naylor, one of the co-founders of the Brighton Marathon, told the publication interest in the race is "booming".
"Marathon numbers are increasing because running is an easy sport to fit into our increasingly busy lives. You can run almost anywhere, and at any time," he told Runner's World magazine.
The co-founder explained that last year, entries for the London Marathon were snapped up in record time in 2010 and Edinburgh "had its biggest race ever".
Marathons aren't just becoming more popular in the UK either, according to the publication, Berlin and Tokyo have also seen a surge in numbers over recent months.
Sports psychologist Andrea Firth-Clark told Runner's World more first-time sportsmen are taking part in the events and the psychology behind this is that people see a person they know achieving the goal and they are spurred on to try themselves.
This year's Brighton Marathon will be taking place on Sunday April 10th and it will be started by retired British athlete Steve Cram.
