Man United Hold Their Nerve on Emotional Night

The build-up to the Europa League final between Manchester United and Ajax began in a subdued mood given the tragic events in Manchester this week, but the Red Devils held firm to leave Stockholm’s Friends Arena victorious – and dedicating the win, which also puts the club back in the Champions League, to the victims of the attack in their home city.



Goals from £89million man Paul Pogba and Armenian winger Henrikh Mikhitaryan cemented the win for Jose Mourinho’s team – the second piece of major silverware won this season, and the first time the club has won the Europa League. United have now one every club honour available to them, with this latest victory signalling the 66th time the club has won a major tournament.

At the final whistle, the team dedicated the win to the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing, and fleet-footed Frenchman Paul Pogba left the team huddle to make his way to the corner of the pitch and celebrate with the fans, performing a (possibly rehearsed) dance routine in his own unique style...
