These days supermodel Helena Christensen is more likely to be seen behind the camera than in front of it, though she looks pretty happy to pose for Red magazine’s September cover.
The 45-year-old caught up with the magazine to talk about staying healthy, looking good and why she defended Kim Kardashian during her pregnancy.
“I feel I let myself down if I don’t speak out about something that is utterly unfair,” she tells the magazine. “[With Kim] I looked beyond the fact she’s a public figure and took the very simple stand that a pregnant woman should never be judged in the disgusting ways that are out there right now .”
She has some interesting insight on cosmetic surgery and confesses that she thinks it’s a bit of a gamble. “There’s a fine line between it looking alright and looking freaky,” she says. “That’s what holds me back. Can you imagine waking up after having something done and realising they had done just that tiny speck too much? I think the best thing is to get dimmers on your lights and, when they don’t work, switch to candles!”
Helena is currently dating Paul Banks and says she’s in no rush to get married. “I mean if it happens, it happen,” she says..” We’re having such a good time, it’s not something I ever needed or felt was necessary to add to my relationship. I think relationships are so intriguing and beautiful and complicated. If you can find a partner with whom you feel safe and calm and comfortable, who you feel you can learn things from and who can learn from you, it’s not like you need anything else to seal it.”
