Clare Balding tells Good Housekeeping how she lost almost two stone!

Clare Balding talks to Good Housekeeping about her amazing makeover and New Year's resolutions.

Clare Balding has been sport’s gold girl since she impressed the world with her presenting skills during the 2012 Olympic Games and this month she’s on the cover of Good Housekeeping looking better than ever!

In her interview with the magazine, the presenter reveals that she has lost over a stone and a half. “But how?” we hear you ask…

“I downloaded a free app on my phone that is recommended by the NHS, called Fitness Pal,” she tells Good Housekeeping. “I put in my target weight and it said I need to eat 1,200 calories a day – but obviously you earn more calories if you take exercise. So I’m watching calories and walking like mad.”

Her new size has given her a new outlook on fashion, too. “It can be very depressing to go shopping when you’re not the size you want to be, so it’s much more fun now,” she says. “I’d never had any colour in my hair until a few weeks ago. And it’s exciting when you start to fit back into things in your wardrobe that you refused to throw out on the off-chance that you might lose weight.”

As the new year is creeping up on us, we’re all starting to think of our New Year’s Resolutions. Does Clare have any? “Not really. Every day you want to try and be positive and kind and motivated, and I don’t find that very difficult.”
