Today the streets of Britain will be awash with Harry Potters, Oompa Loompas and Katniss Everdeens as World Book Day marks its 21st year.
But it’s important to remember that this special day is not just about dressing up, for the main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own, with tokens given to children so they can purchase £1 books from a special selected list of titles.
Reading from a young age has a multitude of benefits, and can spark a lifelong love affair with books. But with so many adventures to choose from, it can be difficult to find the right book for you, which is why a subscription to The Kids Book Club can be really valuable.
A subscription also makes a great gift, with your recipient receiving a lovely gift box welcoming them to the club and details on how to register their subscription online. After entering their favourite genres, they will receive a brand new book each month that’s been tailored to their own reading tastes by The Willoughby Book Club’s team of literary experts - see our unboxing video for more information.
On top of that, for each subscription redeemed, The Kids Book Club will donate a brand new book to the charity Book Aid International, to support its vital educational and development work in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Meaning World Book Day really can be celebrated all over the globe.
