Dig out your secateurs and dust off your gardening gloves, because the RHS Flower Show is about to come to Cardiff. From April 15th - 17th, Bute Park will be filled with fantastic flora in a colourful celebration of the advent of Spring.
This year’s event promises to be fun for all of the family, with opportunities to learn foraging skills and den-building, alongside a series of Roald Dahl-themed attractions to mark the centenary of the children’s author’s birth. Dahl spent his early years in Llandaff, Cardiff and award-winning designer Tony Smith has created a fun-filled show garden, taking inspiration from the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – complete with bubbling chocolate lake.
There will also be a 12ft tall statue of the Big Friendly Giant greeting visitors on arrival and younger enthusiasts of all things horticultural will be able to take part in a ‘Golden Ticket Family Trail’ around the showground.
Other highlights include:
- An entertaining talks theatre led by TV personality Toby Buckland
- 58 nurseries with vibrant displays in the Floral Marquee and Plant Village
- Over 100 stalls offering garden products, gifts and local artisan food
The event also coincides with the 150-year anniversary of The Garden magazine – the official magazine of the RHS – now available with up to 25% off.
