Learn how to tell good fats from bad

If you've got an OK! magazine subscription, you can learn about which fats are good for you.

If you're looking to lose weight and you've got an OK! magazine subscription, you can find out which fats are good for you.

While you probably think all fat is bad and cutting it out entirely will help with your weight-loss efforts, the publication claims otherwise.

Nutritionist Jane Clarke told OK! magazine: "The body needs to store some fat to prevent excessive loss of body heat.

"Too little body fat can cause women to stop menstruating. It can also make you more at risk from developing osteoporosis."

She said essential fats are very important, as the body cannot produce them on its own.

They help the reproductive, cardiovascular, immune and nervous systems - all key parts of your body.

Jane told OK! magazine some great natural sources of the fats include oily fish, flaxseeds, avocados and nuts.

Louise Thomas-Minns, a skin therapist, also believes essential fats are vital for the body.

She said they help improve skin, keeping it in tip-top condition.
