Jennifer Lawrence talks The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Jennifer Lawrence talks to Empire about being a movie star and the new Hunger Games film, Catching Fire.

It is safe to say that Jennifer Lawrence has been catapulted into super stardom since the first Hunger Games movie came out last year. Since then she has gone on to win an Oscar in Silver Linings Playbook (falling over on her way to collect the award!) and has just generally won the world over by being a sweetheart.

Speaking to Empire in their November issue, which takes an exclusive look at Catching Fire, she jokes that her stardom has gone to her head – particularly when returning to the Hunger Games set.

“Well, of course I changed,” she laughs. “I told them, ‘Things are going to be a little different around here from now on…’”

Despite having a huge blockbuster under her belt and one of the coveted awards, her craziest moment isn’t what you might think. “Okay, so you see a lot of the same people at all the different events in awards season, and one time to Sally Field said to me, ‘We’re all going to the same places – I really think we should start a car pool.’ Man. Sally Field wanted to get all these actors together in a big van and drive it around! Look, I live a very boring life. This was a very exciting carpool!”

And what can we expect from Katniss in the new film? It seems that Lawrence can relate to her character even more this time around. She explains: “It’s hard to say you identify with someone who’s facing life and death and war. It’s not like, ‘Ohmigod that’s, like, totally how I feel but there is the connection in that she doesn’t feel like just part of the town anymore. Now everyone treats her like a celebrity… Whereas SHE still feels like she’s part of THEM. I get that a lot. I’ll go to get a coffee where I always get coffee and all of a sudden there’s this weird mood, and I’m like, ‘Come on, I still get coffee here, just say hello.’”
