Has Mariah Carey Been Dumped?

She’s garnered quite a reputation for diva tantrums and superstar behaviour, and now Woman’s Day mag are reporting that Mariah Carey’s engagement to billionaire James Packer has finished, with the latter citing Carey’s extravagant spending habits and her desire to invite cameras into their private lives as part of her reality show Mariah’s World.

Though no official communication from the couple has been forthcoming, but rumours have been swirling for some time about Packer’s trepidation over appearing on reality TV, and his family’s disapproval of Mariah not going to Australia for his sister Gretel’s 50^th birthday.

However it is also being reported that Packer has allowed Mariah to keep the outrageous £8 million engagement ring with which he used to propose. The stunning sparkler has been an ever-present feature on Carey’s left hand since Packer’s proposal in January of this year.

The 46-year-old songstress has also cancelled part of her current Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour – including shows in Brazil, Argentina and Chile – only fuelling speculation that something has gone amiss behind the scenes.

“To all of my lambs in South America, I am devastated that a portion of this tour had to be cancelled,” she said in a statement. “Thank you for all of the excitement and love—I hope to see you soon, my darlings!”
