How to walk off a stone

Woman's Own magazine has claimed that it is possible to walk off a stone in weight.

Woman's Own magazine has suggested that readers could get in shape this summer by eating right and walking.

According to food nutritionist Monica Grenfell, the correct diet teamed with light exercise can be enough to help shift a stone in weight.

The plan set out by the magazine allows dieters to eat five times a day and enjoy starchy meals and carbohydrates, even in the evening.

One rule is never to eat the same meal twice in one day and the publication features a number of example menus.

Integral to the weight loss is the walking programme, which should see those taking part starting off with one fat-burning walk of around an hour-and-a-half per week.

This should consist of an easy pace for ten minutes, one minute of stretching, a fast pace for between half an hour and 40 minutes, an easy pace for between five and ten minutes and another 30 to 40 minute burst of fast pace.

These should be built up to two walks per week on consecutive days and supplemented by health walks and toning walks on other days.

Meanwhile, the magazine recently published a list of ten chicken recipes for July.
