Amy Schumer Speaks Out About Fame

“It’s mostly just really annoying,” she tells Glamour in candid interview.

Never one to mince her words, comedienne, actress and writer Amy Schumer pulled no punches when asked about how she felt about being in the public eye.

“No, I did not ever want to be famous, honestly. It didn’t occur to me until it was already happening. The fame aspect is not something that appealed to me at all. And I was really kind of terrified of it,” she told Glamour magazine, adding: “I’m grateful for everything. It’s mostly just really annoying. And distracting. And embarrassing for everyone.”

Amy may not have chosen fame, but she is certainly thriving in the spotlight having recently released her Netflix ‘Leather Special’ stand-up show, and will also star opposite Goldie Hawn later this month in Snatched, a riotous mother/daughter comedy.

The 35-year-old is also happily in love with her boyfriend, furniture designer Ben Hanisch, but insists there is no risk of her happiness jeopardising her comedy material, saying: “Um, well, I’m never that happy…I can be happy, and funny stuff also happens; I don’t think I’m like that…”
