Usain Bolt Takes Track Home

During the running legend’s emotional farewell in London last night, he was presented with a touching gift.

Usain Bolt bid farewell to athletics on Sunday the 13th of August, with a lap of honour at the London Stadium, before being presented with a piece of track from Olympic boss, Seb Coe.

The gift represents several of the fastest man in the world’s most historic moments, as it was on the London 2012 track on which he won three Olympic gold medals and broke the sprint relay world record.

After a phenomenal career, his final foray at the World Championships was perhaps not what he had hoped, after coming second to American runner Justin Gatlin in the 100m race, and then crashing out of the men’s 4x100m relay with an injury. But the 30-year-old said he had no regrets.

“After losing the 100m someone said to me, ‘Usain don’t worry Muhammad Ali lost his last fight too, so don’t be stressed’,” revealed Bolt, before vowing to never race again.

“I’ve seen too many people retire and come back and make it worse or shame themselves,” he said. “I won’t be one of those persons.”
