Supergroup Boyband Set to Star at Comic Relief

Members of iconic pop-groups Blue, 5ive and S Club 7 will unite in support of charity – but there’s a twist…

What do Blue, 5ive and S Club 7 all have in common? Well, apart from changing the landscape of iconic pop music forever of course. The answer is that they will all provide a member to forming a supergroup for this year’s Comic Relief, with Duncan James of Blue, 5ive’s Richie Neville and S Club’s John Lee joining forcing with Gareth Gates and Ben Ofoedu of Phats & Small fame.

And if this isn’t enough of a celebration of British music involving legends of the scene, there’s one final twist in store for Comic Relief viewers. The gents will be reforming as ‘Boys Allowed’ and will be performing their female counterpart’s tune Biology, whilst supposed dressed as the gals themselves.

"It's going to be a fantastic performance," Gates told the Sun. "I can't wait to get those high heels on and raise loads of money for a fantastic cause."

Hollyoaks actor Duncan, 38, said he was also keen to test out his high heels, following a recent spinal injury. He joked: "It's such a great cause and I am looking forward to wearing heels again, which I haven't done since my injury. It should be like riding a bike… I hope!" Ritchie, meanwhile, threw down the gauntlet to Girls Aloud. "Look out Cheryl and Kimberley and co. Boys Allowed are coming for you!"

Despite the fact that Comic Relief 2017 is already boasting the return of the Love Actually cast in a mini-sequel, it’s fair to say that this is the one reunion everyone can get behind...
