Duncan James from Blue joins Hollyoaks

The Blue singer will join the Hollyoaks cast full time as head of new family in the village.

He is best known for singing in pop/soul group Blue alongside Lee Ryan, Antony Costa and Simon Webbe, but now Duncan James will be stepping out on his own, not as a solo artist but as actor in Hollyoaks. His character Ryan is the head of a new family moving into the fictional village and will make his debut this summer. Announcing the news on Twitter James said:

“I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic on and off screen talent on the show and bringing the character of Ryan to life,” he added.

Blue originally formed in 2000 and had 3 number one albums and singles including their monster hit All Rise. They split in 2004 but reformed in 2009, even representing England in the 2011 Eurovision. Since then he has starred in several West End shows including Legally Blonde: The Musical and Chicago.

A spokesperson for the show added: "Ryan is a good guy in a committed relationship who will move into the village. He is a grounded family man with principles and integrity but who will fight tooth and nail for what he believes in."
