Animal welfare charity PETA have enlisted the help of two rock legends for their latest ad, with a cartoon Iggy Pop travelling through the countryside saving animals from a nefarious masked menace to the backdrop of Nick Cave’s 2004 song Breathless.
The clip sees Pop saving a fox, rabbit, fish and tortoise from certain doom, before ending with a shot of the singer in real life relaxing with his dog. Cave’s song, meanwhile, contains references to a number of animalistic encounters – with fish, rabbits and robins all mentioned.
Pop and Cave are the latest in a long line of musicians to work with PETA. Other stars who have featured in animal welfare adverts over the years include P!NK, Joan Jett, Tommy Lee and Joss Stone.
