Watch Mylie Cyrus’ Stirring Rendition Of Malibu at Billboard Awards

The former teen runaway reveals new look and new song at the music ceremony.

She’s gone from Disney sweetheart, to LA wild child, and last night (Sunday May 21st) Miley Cyrus unveiled her new look as a Country music darling.

Introduced by her father Billy Ray and younger sister Noah (who joked that her sibling was wearing pants "for the first time in years"), Miley belted out an emotional rendition of new single Malibu. As tears filled her eyes and balloons rained down on the audience, it was evident that Miley was delighted to be back.

The summery song is a return to form for the 24-year-old singer, who had a brief experimental period which even saw her collaborate with the Flaming Lips under the moniker Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. In a recent interview with Billboard magazine she explained that the upcoming and as-yet-untitled album would have political overtones, but that it would talk to people in a ‘compassionate and understanding way’.

"This record is a reflection of the fact that yes, I don't give a f***, but right now is not a time to not give a f*** about people," she said. "I'm giving the world a hug and saying, 'Hey, look. We're good – I love you.' And I hope you can say you love me back."
