Alex Jones Reveals Maternity Fears

One Show presenter says BBC show ‘The Replacement’ echoed her own worries of losing her job...

Alex Jones has opened up about her very real fears about going on maternity leave, when she had her first child in January at the age of 40. She said that recent thriller The Replacement -  in which Vicky McClure plays a mentally unstable architect intent on taking over the life of a woman she has been hired to cover – really hit a nerve.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine, Alex said: “Of course! I’d be lying to say I didn’t feel any paranoia when I first left the show, but then you get over it because you realise there’s nothing you can do about it.”

She went on to say that when she had her son - Teddy -  there was no time to watch the show anyway, and that she hopes to return to television part-time in a few months.

“I’m more ambitious than I appear,” she continued. “If you love your job, you’re always worried someone is going to take it away from you. TV can be more fickle than other industries.”
