Permaculture Celebrates It's 25th Birthday

As Permaculture turns a quarter of a century old, we look at how this practical magazine has grown from a readership of just 600 to over 100,000 - will you be adding to the ranks?

2017 is the 25th Anniversary Year of Permaculture: practical solutions beyond sustainability a magazine which has grown from an original readership of 600 to now over 100,000 (print and digital) each issue. All print subscribers receive free digital and app access to all of the magazine’s back issues.

“Giving free digital access to the back issues saw subscriptions increase,” says Permaculture’s editor Maddy Harland. “The search option is excellent, making it very easy for readers to find articles on specific topics, whether it is practical DIY tips, lessons on permaculture design and principles or inspirational community projects. One of our main growth areas has been in institutional subscribers, the access to the back issues has made us incredibly attractive to this market and we have seen a significant take-up … hundreds in fact!”

The digital subscription has made it easier for people worldwide to find out about Permaculture. Digital gives publishers the chance to engage and reach ever more people.

Permaculture magazine was established in 1992 by Maddy and Tim Harland. “The Current Affairs sector remains buoyant as people seek out informative, specialist publications and networks in the topics they are passionate about. We remain as equally passionate and searching as we were when we began 25 years ago….and the world still needs informed journalism, thinkers and practitioners…it’s an industry on the frontline, influencing people and thought right now” says Maddy.

As part of their celebrations, Permaculture is offering 10 permaculture books (worth over £140) for just £25! The Lucky Dip package is full of quality books covering sustainable technology, community, food and drink, farming, green building, sustainable land use, Fair Trade and wellbeing. These are timeless resources and excellent introductions to permaculture.
