Felicity Jones Channels Queen Bey For Rogue One

New Star Wars heroine reveals unlikely inspiration for her character Jyn Erso

In the hotly anticipated Star Wars spinoff which is set before 1977’s A New Hope, Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso, an ex-convict turned rebel who leads a team attempting to steal the plans of the Death Star to prevent it being built. In order to fully embody her role as a female warrior the star said she would listen to Beyoncé’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) and her album Lemonade before filming, telling E! News:

“I was looking at footage from Lemonade. I think she’s someone who has incredible power and is devoted to what she does, but she also seems like a very nice person. I think that’s very important to emulate.”

The London-born actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for playing Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything, dazzled at the premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story  in London on December 13th in a stunning Grecian-style, grey gown. With her brown hair worn in chic chignon and simple sparkling jewellery, the 33-year-old posed alongside co-stars Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker and Diego Lua on the red carpet.

Reviews so far for the film, which opens in the UK on December 16th, have been largely positive with many critics awarding it four stars out of five.
