Backstreet's Back...Alright?

Self-proclaimed super fan James Corden has launched a campaign to bring back the boy-band…starting with the one and only Backstreet Boys…

“I care about this more than maybe anything else on the planet,” exclaimed James Corden when introducing his latest Late Late Show campaign – the return of “proper boy bands.”

“I’m talking five guys together; I’m talking the cute one, the funny one, the nice one, the other one and the maverick who refused to play by the rules,” he continued, before adding that whilst he is aware that boy-bands haven’t just disappeared, the modern incarnation of this quintessential sonic sub-genre are way off the classic all male groups of yesteryear. “Some of them even have the audacity to pick up instruments,” Corden quipped.

And after declaring his love for “matching outfits, synchronised dancing and way-over-budget music videos,” the talk-show host was joined by the most successful boy-band ever to have existed: the mighty Backstreet Boys.

The Boys and Corden then proceeded to take us all back in a time to a day when music was pure, by performing their hit song ‘Everybody’ to a rapturous reception. The group are preparing for a Las Vegas residency next year and a new album, slated for release later in 2016.

Can Corden bring boy-bands back? Will the world accept the return of our stage-stalking and coiffured cherubim? Or is this one campaign that even the huge backing of America’s biggest talk show can’t save?
