Watch Channing Tatum’s touching interview with autistic woman

The Magic Mike star chats to Carly Fleischmann in first episode of Speechless.

Author Carly Fleischmann fulfilled her life dream of becoming a talk show host when she interviewed Hollywood superstar Channing Tatum for her YouTube series Speechless. Fleischmann suffers from severe autism and is unable to communicate verbally, but with help of a tablet and computer she was able to conduct a sweet and very funny interview.

"I would like to introduce you to my first guest ever!" Fleischmann tells her YouTube audience. "He has been a stripper, a police officer, a secret agent, a reporter, a boyfriend to many, and soon he will dump his wife to be with me."

Tatum, who is married to actress Jenna Dewan Tatum, went along with the joke and when asked “would you date a 21-year-old person with autism?” stroked his chin before replying: “Yes, if I got permission from my wife.”

At one point she asks Tatum if he struggled to be taken seriously as an actor, to which he replied: "I findt hard to make people take me serious at all, ever. I'm really lucky my parents are two good-looking people.”

Fleischmann, who is co-author of the book Carly’s Voice, was diagnosed with autism and an oral motor condition that prevented her from speaking at aged two. Doctors feared she wouldn’t develop mentally beyond the age of a small child, but instead she has flourished into a bright and articulate young woman.
