I think many people look on me as an unlikely person to be involved in orchestra projects because I’m chatty, have a sense of humour and am below the age of 60! Music has always been a passion and although I’m across the board on all genres, I guess it’s true to say my foundation for music is classical and embedded in the arts, so for that reason I’d probably say my favourite magazine is BBC Music for the fact it broaches so music alternative and traditional music across so many classical styles.
I think having a deep interest in all genres of music has been absolutely vital to what I’ve produced. There are so many traditional genres that have led me to where I am today and a magazine like BBC Music has always provided a really rich and important starting point. Although often looking at the classic genres of the past, the stories behind the musicians feel current and alive, and it’s impossible not to draw inspiration from the way the artists are written about.
