There are few occasions that can unite the nation and show Britain at it's pinnacle in the way that a Royal wedding can, and the spectacle that was Harry and Meghan's marriage on 19th May 2018 certainly lived up to the hype. Over 13 million people tuned in people tuned in to watch the ceremony at 12pm GMT, whilst an estimated 110,000 (many dressed in traditional Brit regalia) descended on the picturesque town of Windsor to take part in the celebrations.
Excitement built throughout the course of the morning as famous guests arrived at the historic castle. George Clooney and lawyer wife, Amal stole the show, alone with Oprah Winfrey, David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and ex-suits star Gina Torres. Last to arrive was the Queen, wearing happy hues of lime, lemon and purple. Ant then, with all 600 guests seated, the chapel fell silent, awaiting the landmark moment when the American ex-actress arrived to marry her prince.
And what a moment it was. Meghan’s breathtaking veil, embroidered with flowers from the 53 commonwealth countries, trailed behind her as she boldly walked into the church alone, framed by a £100,00 display of wild roses, peonies and foliage. Having watched as a nation, Harry grow up in the spotlight and endure the loss of his mother in August 1997, it was hard not to be moved by the occasion.
Widely reported by the media as a celebrations of diversity and true love, the union of harry Meghan is a very modern romance.
