Women's Running magazine subscription holders keen to pull on their trainers and get going should check out the publication's list of top ten wacky runs taking place this year.
First on the list is the Beachy Head Marathon in October, which is described as "eye-wateringly tough" and takes people through the Seven Sisters, but is recommended for the amazing views.
Slightly easier is the Battersea Park Race for Life in the summer, which aims to raise cash for breast cancer charities and is normally attended by a host of famous faces, while the third entry is the Rock N Roll Chicago Half Marathon, perfect for those who want to travel to foreign shores for a race. There is also a great after party which makes all that exercise worth it.
Coming in at number four is The Mighty Deerstalker in the grounds of Traquair House in the Scottish Tweed Valley, while the Three Peaks Challenge which takes in the three highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland completes the top five.
The Hever Castle Triathlon in September ranked sixth, while the Eden Project Marathon a month later was seventh.
The scenic Down Tow Up Flow Half Marathon, the historic Jerusalem Marathon and the Grim Challenge at Aldershot completed the top ten.
