With the northern hemisphere's winter sports season well underway, hundreds of new riders will have caught the bug for snowboarding and may be interested in a Whitelines magazine subscription.

The publication recently spoke to the legendary Shawn Farmer, who, it says, "is the reason we don't all monoski in Henri Duvillard one-piece suits".

One of the founding fathers of modern snowboarding, Farmer burst onto the scene in the late 80s with his Totally Board movie that would become the first of the TB Series.

He told the magazine how the video premiered at the San Diego ASR trade show and propelled his fame up a notch or two.

"Right after that movie came out and the next day we were in the trade show and everyone was on us," he revealed.

Farmer added how he felt that snowboarding in the late 80s and early 90s had an unhealthy jock image too akin to skiing for his liking and that he wanted to introduce a skate-punk vibe to the sport.

New snowboarders and those looking to pick up tips will find Whitelines magazine useful for its instructional guidelines and advice.
