It’s been a few months since the world celebrated the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton – now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, of course. But they’ve had their turn and now it’s time for them to move over and make way for Zara Phillips and her rugby player fiancé Mike Tindall.
The couple, who have been together for 7 years, are getting hitched in Edinburgh today. Much like the pair themselves, it will not be a typical, extravagant royal wedding, but a fairly low-key occasion with friends and family.
Although crowds are not expected to be anywhere near as big for the royal wedding in April, no doubt well-wishers will gather to wish the couple well. No doubt they’ll also be hoping to catch a glimpse of some of the high-profile guests such as the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
Though those of you with a Rugby World magazine subscription will probably be more interested in knowing which of Mike’s team mates will be there. Reports suggest that Iain Balshaw will be Tindall’s best man whilst other guests in attendance will include Laurence Dallaglio and Martin Johnson.
With the Rugby World Cup fast approaching, it’s the ideal time for Zara and Mike to get married and settled before Mike has to get back to training.
The tournament, which is being held in New Zealand this year, begins on 10th September and runs for 7 weeks, wih final being held on 22nd October.
