Injury-beating exercises revealed

If you've got a Runner's World magazine subscription, you'll be able to find out some great exercises to reduce injuries.

Sports enthusiasts who have a Runner's World magazine subscription will be able to find out some great injury-beating exercises.

One of the stretches suggested by the mag is called 'the bridge'. It helps runners reduce their chances of 'sitting' on the pelvis while exercising, according to Runner's World magazine.

"Slowly curl the spine up off the floor, starting at the tailbone, until the body forms a straight line from the shoulders to the knees. Hold for five seconds, building up to ten seconds. Repeat ten times," it recommends.

Anyone looking to progress a bit further with the exercise needs to do it as recommended but straighten each leg alternatively when the pelvis is fully lifted.

Before a speed session, Runner's World magazine suggests people try backwards walking as it "encourages the glutes to fire".

Walk backwards slowly in a straight line, the mag recommends.

Also in Runner's World magazine, you can find some top weight loss tips for the new year.
