Golf Monthly magazine has revealed how South African star Ernie Els has voiced his disappointment at the public reaction to the redesign of Wentworth.
He was saddened to hear many of his professional peers at the BMW PGA Championship slam the work he had done on the course.
While admitting that mistakes had been made, Els said that it was regrettable that so many of the people he has known for years chose to vent their frustrations through the media.
He and Richard Caring spent £6.5 million changing Wentworth's West Course but the alterations drew criticism from some of the game's top players, including world number three Lee Westwood.
Els suggested that he would like to change the 18th hole, which Westwood was particularly unhappy with, as well as the eighth.
The pro admitted that he was not pleased with the heather on the mounds and promised to make changes before the European Tour returned in 2011.
In other news, Golf Monthly has published its betting guide for the Crowne Plaza Invitational.
