Bahrain Grand Prix to go ahead, says Bernie Ecclestone

After disturbances n Bahrain, Bernie Ecclestone confirms that the Grand Prix will still go ahead.

Motoring fans with an F1 Racing magazine subscription have been left to wonder whether the Bahrain Grand Prix will go ahead this weekend after all of the trouble in the country this week, however according to recent reports both Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone and Bahraini authorities have insisted that the race go ahead.

On Wednesday Force India personnel were caught up in a petrol-bombing incident whilst making their way to Manama from the International Circuit and just last night Sauber witnessed more trouble as protestors ran through the streets.

Despite calls from the public to cancel the race, it seems it will go ahead as planned on Sunday as Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa feels that calling it off would “just empower extremists”, whilst Ecclestone has said: “If people have got a complaint about something else, it's nothing to do with F1.”

Whilst we’re hoping the race goes ahead, we hope that all teams are safe during the protests. Tune in on Sunday to see who takes the glory!
