In the States, he really achieved, representing Oklahoma State University and flying high in the 2010 indoor season.

For 3,000m indoors, he clocked an amazing 7:58.68, then 14:12.62 for 5,000m two weeks later, reports Athletics Weekly magazine.

Farrell told the mag he wanted to go to the IAAF World Junior Championships, which took place in Moncton, Canada, from July 19th to 25th, but he wasn't selected.

He told Athletics Weekly magazine: "On reflection, I probably wouldn't be running as well as I am now if I had gone to the World Juniors because my base phase would have been shorter as I would have had to delay it until after the World Juniors.

"Though, I do think that with it being my last major junior track championships it would have been good experience for me."
