The great thing about travel magazines, like The Sunday Times Travel is that they will always give you the honest advice of an expert – and not of a travel agent who is just trying to make a commission.
In their December issue they tell you that the best time to visit Venice isn’t in the summer like everyone says it is. When you think about it, it does make sense. Any of you who have visited the city during the summer will know that it’s packed full of tourists, it’s swelteringly hot and if you’re unlucky, the canals can take on a rather pungent smell.
No, no, no say Sunday Times Travel – winter is the best time to enjoy Venice, and every local knows it, they just keep it a secret.
