Last week iSUBSCRiBE.co.uk reported how a survey of Vogue readers found that rather than using digital instead of print, readers enjoyed using both and that the majority of those asked didn’t think that digital would ever replace print.
Now it’s been reported that more print magazines have launched in the first half of 2011 than last year. According to MediaFinder.com, who are an online database of titles published by Oxbridge Communications, 111 consumer and business-to-business publications have launched between January and June in Canada and the USA, compared to just 74 last year.
Blogger Samir Husni from MrMagazine.com also carried out his own research and claims that 438 new publications have arrived on the market – 104 of which are published more than four times a year and 334 which are less. According to Mr Husni, only 381 were launched last year.
So it’s official - printed magazines are back!
New magazines that are cropping up seem to be specialist titles, regional titles or business-to-business titles – magazines that will have a loyal fanbase.
At iSUBSCRiBE.co.uk we’re always welcoming new titles to our site, so we are excited that more publications are cropping up so that we can offer even more magazine subscriptions than the 2.500 titles currently available.
It's time to stop worrying that your favourite magazine - whether it be TES or Practical Poultry - is going to stop turning up and enjoy it. Who knows? A new magazine may come along that you love just as much!
