Cosmopolitan magazine has suggested that readers keep an eye out for velvet and aviator jackets as these are likely to be big in the coming months.
Fashion director Shelly Vella explained that these are likely to be two of the biggest trends on the catwalk this autumn and noted that this would filter down to stores on the high street.
"There is going to be lots of velvet around next season, the kind of velvet that's not stiff, it's body-con velvet," she predicted.
The expert added that there may be a masculine feel to the coming season's fashion picks, with loose, slouchy jackets worn over a number of layers.
Popular brands such as Burberry have been showcasing aviator jackets at a number of fashion shows and Ms Vella predicted that this will be a big trend that is great as a "cool casual piece".
X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke was recently spotted supporting the velvet trend, sporting a velvet Manjit Deu dress.
The singer was accepting her Best Newcomer gong at the Glamour magazine awards.
