The X Factor is well and truly back after a controversial first week of live shows which saw Gary Barlow storm off set after his act Carolynne Poole was voted off and accusations that the producer telling Louis Walsh who to vote for.
One person who keeps her eyes on the prize when it comes to her acts though is Tulisa, who those of you with a Cosmopolitan magazine subscription will have seen is this month’s cover star.
The singer has had an interesting time since the last series of the X Factor, with a high profile break-up from bandmate Fazer, her ex-boyfriend leaking a sex tape and she’s also been named FHM’s hottest woman. Cosmopolitan caught up with the singer to ask her how she feels about everything now.
Tulisa is notoriously feisty, but she admits that the sex tape scandal was tough. “I had people coming up to me saying, ‘Come on, you must have put that out there yourself?’” she said. “That was the worst part for me.”
“Then I was being judged for my ‘skills’, and I’m like, ‘Hang on a minute – I was a 19-year-old girl; this was the first person I’d ever done this with,’” she added. “It was a private moment and it was devastating enough that it was out there in the first place. I felt violated.”
Despite everything, Tulisa is back on form for the new series. Despite reports (as always) that she and Scherzinger don’t get on, Tulisa said it’s quite the opposite and that Nicole brings out the “more sensitive side” in her.
“I want the right person to win, whether they are in my category or not,” she said. “Would it be bloody amazing if I did win, though? Yes! I’ve always had to go through a really bad time in my life to get to a good one.”
