Try to grow your own food

Fork magazine has suggested that readers try to grow their own food to serve at dinner parties.

Category: Lifestyle

Title: Fork

Fork magazine is encouraging readers to sign up to the National Trust's Grow Your Own Dinner Party initiative.

The organisation has created an application that aims to convince the social networking generation to get off of their computer chairs and into the garden.

According to the magazine, more than 15 million people grew their own food last year and this summer's big trend will be serving home-grown fruit and vegetable at parties.

The National Trust's foodgloriousfood.org.uk has been created to help beginners get through the tough initial stages.

It contains an interactive map to show where other grow your own parties are taking place and has a number of hints and tips to help would-be growers along the way.

Other features include a blog which follows the progress of one National Trust worker's seeds, as well as the opportunity to ask other users horticulture-related questions.

Those taking part may be interested to know that Jamie Magazine recently noted that asparagus is now in season.
