The Dandy comic to stop printing

The Dandy will no longer be printed after its 75th anniversary issue.

What a sad day! Today the publishers of Dandy have announced that old favourite, The Dandy will no longer be available in print edition after the comic's 75th anniversary special edition on 4th December.

The Dandy made household names of characters such as Desperate Dan, Bananaman and Black Bob and has been running since December 1937 - it's actually the world's third longest-running publication behind Detective Comics and Il Giornalino.

However, although the magazine will no longer be printed, the publishers have promised that it won't be disappearing altogether. They have said that they want to bring The Dandy to a younger audience.

DC Thomson's Ellis Watson said: "We're counting down 110 days until the big 75th anniversary bash and we're working on some tremendously exciting things. Dan has certainly not eaten his last cow pie. All of The Dandy's characters are just 110 days away from a new lease of life."

At least Beano is still remaining untouched though! We're not sure we'd do without Dennis and co.
