Those of you with a Times Higher Education magazine subscription will already know that today is the day that 6th form students have been waiting for... results day! They finally get to see if all their hard work has paid off and they have achieved the results that could make or break their futures.
Students head over to their school or college to learn their fate and find out if they’ll be getting into the university they’ve got their hearts set on. Though, those who wanted to check their applications online on the UCAS website will have been disappointed after the website crashed at around 8.40am.
UCAS released a statement: “Traffic to the UCAS Track website is four times the peak per second compared to last year. In order to secure a full service, we have taken the site down for a short time. Full service will be resumed shortly and we apologise for any inconvenience.”
The site is up and running again, so students can now see whether or not they have secured their place at their university of choice, or if not they can start the clearing process.
According to reports, A Level results have risen for the 29th year in a row, no doubt in response to universities putting their entry requirements up due to high volume of university applications.
