Nicole Kidman on marriage and children

Nicole Kidman tells Red about the importance of having her husband and children around her.

Nicole Kidman was once half of one of Hollywood’s biggest couples – married to the heart throb, living in the big house and having every move scrutinised. However, speaking to Red in the March issue she says that her life now is completely different and she couldn’t be happier.

She’s currently filming Grace of Monaco, in which she plays the Hollywood actress who married a prince. She admits that she can empathise with how Grace Kelly must have felt.

“There was a period in my life that was very similar. Although it wasn’t royalty, there was a rarefied air, living in a big place in Hollywood. So I had some kind of perspective on that,” she says. “Not so much now though. I live a much quieter life. I live in Nashville, which is not at all similar.”

Despite often working in different places around the globe, she makes sure her two youngest children Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret are always with her and that she never goes more than two weeks without seeing husband Keith Urban. Even if that does mean turning down roles.

“I’d rather be with him [than working], so it’s not that difficult,” she explains. “I’m much more unhappy if I’m sitting alone somewhere. At this point in my life, I have no problem with that compromise. I just want to keep us strong.”
