It seems the competition is heating up in iSUBSCRiBE's cover contest, with one magazine in particular recruiting the a star to help it gain votes.
The Maggies is a contest designed to find the best cover of the year and is judged on reader votes.
Metal Hammer magazine is hoping to scoop the top prize and has spoken to Slayer frontman Tom Ayara about its chances of winning.
Ayara's band appeared on the cover of Metal Hammer issue 199, which has been nominated for the awards.
"It's so awesome - I can't believe that a metal magazine is going up against all these celebrity magazines - so vote for Hammer," the star told the publication's readers.
"Go to the Metal Hammer website and vote for Hammer as the best cover of 2009."
The magazine is going up against a number of celebrity magazines, which feature cover stars such as Peter Andre and Barack Obama.
Meanwhile, Metal Hammer recently reported on its road trip, with the latest leg seeing Wolf, Pig Iron, Battlelore and Grand Magus playing in Ibiza.
