Max Irons is one of the stars of the BBC’s drama The White Queen, which has received mixed reviews from both critics and viewers. He plays King Edward IV, husband of the ‘White Queen’.
Speaking to Town & Country in their September issue, he describes it as: “a bit Downton Abbey–meets–Game of Thrones.”
He adds: “The Starz cut contains breasts and buttocks. The BBC cut doesn’t.”
Max Irons has a few Hollywood films such as Red Riding Hood and The Host under his belt too, rather than going down the theatrical route like his parents. Talking about his willingness to take risks, he tells the magazine: “My dad [Jeremy Irons] said once, ‘Max hasn’t really had an opportunity to fail privately.’ My dad worked on small stages, instead of finding himself on the big screen, where if you fail, you’ve failed very, very publicly.”??
He’s in acting for the long haul, though with no plans to be a one-hit wonder as it were. “You don’t want to earn your millions and then be nowhere in six years,” he says. “I want to be working in 60 years.”
