Those on a budget could stay in the UK and visit the surfers' paradise of Cornwall or head to the Bohemian quarter that is London's Camden.
Meanwhile, romantics could hop across the channel to France, where Paris and all its wonders are waiting to be discovered, or jump on a flight to the Turkish capital of Istanbul for some eastern flavour.
Furthermore, the magazine looks specifically at trips to some of Britain's wildest areas, including the Cairngorm mountain range, which has enjoyed a particularly snowy winter season.
It also contains a look at how climate change has impacted the tourism industry in Greenland, while another article follows a family "pilgrimage" to the Drepung Monastery in Tibet.
Aside from the magazine, Lonely Planet helps travellers explore new places by publishing guidebooks and operating a forum on its website.
